Popular Nigerian cleric Chukwuemeka Ohanaemere, widely known as Odumeje, has recounted his troubled childhood, revealing that people used to pay him to f+ght on their behalf before he embraced evangelism.
Speaking during a chat with Nedu, the preacher described himself as a very d@ngerous man while growing up, insisting that he was not a comedian.
Odumeje explained that people who were being bullied would hire him to confront their tormentors. According to him, he would collect payment and arrange a date for the confrontation, usually around 5 or 6 p.m. after the closure of Onitsha’s Women Market, to ensure people witnessed the f+ght.
He said his life took a different turn when he began preaching the gospel across the streets of Onitsha with a megaphone, despite his reputation as a notorious b@d boy.
“I preach gospel street by street of Onitsha with my megaphone, and many laugh at me,” he recalled.
The cleric disclosed that his former friends were unhappy with his transformation because others mocked them over his decision to become a preacher. He said they repeatedly att@cked him and, on one occasion, seized his megaphone and Bible before be@ting him.
Reflecting on the challenges he faced during that period, Odumeje said his faith remained strong, drawing encouragement from biblical passages including John 16:33, Numbers 23 and Matthew 21.
He maintained that God does not fail or deceive those who put their trust in Him.
